Yoga

We've taken to settling down with some late night yoga. Quite nice, especially when you can hear the monsoon outside at the same time. Then we all climb in to bed and drift right to sleep.

Shanti!

Like I said...

Hibernate during the day in the form of-

TwisterSudoku
Star Warsin'
Sticker books
Dinosaur books
Uno
Hind and Seek
TV watching
Computer playing....

And then when Daddy comes home in the late afternoon we face to the sun, and bring our best defenses.

Yesterday...

We had the second class of the All Ages Homeschool Open Gym I organized. So fun!

Giant trampoline.
Hamster wheel.
Log Cabin built out of foam logs.
Nic and I finally did the Solar System kit we bought over a year ago. I brought it in from storage when I was rotating things on our Idea Shelf and he grabbed it and dug in immediately. It was so fun to put together and fun to hear him theorize about space things.
There was also more Snap Circuits, glitter and glue pictures, Ninja Class, geo board, Lego, find the difference games on the computer, a late night play date with friends, sticker pictures, house cleaning and movies.

Recap

Grow thingies. We measured them over the course of 5 days.

Our view as we drove to the Desert Museum for an evening event.
Walking through the parking lot holding hands saying "How 'bout we never fight again?"
Coopers Hawk. We also got to see a barn owl, horned owl, and two Harris Hawks. It was supposed to be a 'free flight' show but apparently the crowd spooked the hawk and it flew up into the rafters. Oops! Pretty neat to see them so close though.

Pool party with friends!
These two played NBA2K on the computer and then walked to the real basketball court down the street and played some more.
Ella and her new wipe-off maze book. She has done this over and over. I love watching her start a maze, and then pause looking ahead at which path to take.
Making his first grilled cheese sandwich.
Key Quest.
I credit my sister with this game. We used the Base Ten blocks, and two dice. You get the number of units you roll on your turn. When you get ten units, you exchange for a ten rod. When you get ten ten rods, you exchange for a hundred block. First one to get to 500 wins. We had never played it before but we had so much fun. Nic has been getting a lot of math just from planning how to use his allowance and he's actually been asking for more fun things to do with numbers. This was the kid who left school a year and a half ago, Hating Math. Thank you Unschooling!
Nic pulled the Snap Circuits off the shelf while we were watching Merlin last night. We haven't done them in months and when we did, I had to really help with making sure things were in the right places. This time, he flew through the first 10 projects completely by himself. The pride in his face as he completed a task and showed us was so amazing. One of the projects was a Flying Saucer. After he did it, he ran to his room and brought out all the Lego Mars Mission stuff. He would do a project in the book and pretend it was a part of the Lego game. So, he was making the saucer fly, the speaker make noise etc. and then pretend the Lego guys were reacting to it. It was the most creative thing I've ever seen.
Strap a pillow to my back and call me a Ninja Turtle.
Roller Skating! His first time using roller skates instead of inlines. It look him a little while to get it but he figured it out, as usual.

Last night Ella brought me one of her baby dolls and said "Here mom, this baby doesn't get big so you'll always have a baby like you want!" Then she proceeds to lift my shirt so I can feed the baby my milk. I think I love that girl.

We also went to see Earth, finally. It was beautiful. The kids favorite part was the baby ducks.

Around here we tend to avoid being outside in the middle of the day. 105' isn't real fun to play in. So we've been doing a lot indoors or slipping out in the evenings. I think we might put up a little tent in the backyard today and see if that makes it at all bearable.

Someday I'll have time to write better posts...

On top of the world!
Well, more like 9,000 feet up.

I'm pretty sure the definition of true love is that when you aren't home and your spouse finds a crazy bug, they put it in a jar until you can get home to see it. Anyone know what the heck this is?
Ninjas-in-training.
Little friends watching Looney Tunes.
Crazy giant moth Nic found while taking out the garbage. It was at least three inches tall.
Painting.
Pretending to be babies.
